Has Medicaid Expansion Lead to Increased Identification of Diabetes? Dr. Huang Comments in New York Times Article Published March 23

The New York Times article, With Expansion of Medicaid, Some States Are Identifying More New Diabetes Cases, highlights the potential correlation between the Affordable Care Act and the increased incidents of diabetes diagnoses.  The article suggests that “the health care law may be helping thousands of people get earlier treatment for one of this country’s costliest medical conditions.”
Chronic Disease Center Director, Dr. Elbert Huang, comments on the other external factors that may be impacting these findings such as general population increases in the states that expanded Medicaid or an increase in Quest’s market share.
