Dr. Laiteerapong and her colleagues analyzed the health records of more than 28,000 patients with type 2 diabetes, focusing on patient health ten years after diagnosis. Electronic medical records allow patterns (long-term trends) to emerge – detail that was previously buried in paper medical charts.
